After a career in academia in the US, PhDivaDiver started scuba diving in the Cayman Islands. She quickly became interested in sea life and started taking photos under water.

As the capabilities of underwater cameras increased in complexity, she enrolled in underwater photography courses. Her work focuses mostly on the smaller creatures as well as the intricate patterns and designs of sponges and corals. When larger animals prevail themselves, she will abide them with a photo session underwater.

Many photos are available as posters or canvases – canvas is truly one of the best ways to display underwater photography.

In 2012, Cynthia began printing calendars for friends and family as holiday gifts. Over the years, the calendars became somewhat of a signature piece in her work allowing her to select the favorites from the past year.

More than 5 years back, PhDiva Diver embarked on a unique adventure in her underwater adventures. She became certified in underwater coral restoration and began growing and then harvesting coral trees. Working with Cayman Eco Divers on their initiatives around the island. All of the proceeds from the sale of her 2020 calendars is being donated to support Cayman Islands reef restoration through the Cayman Eco Divers Foundation. Learn more about this important work and learn how you can get involved on their site.
